The School of Engineering is one of four schools within Jönköping University.
We offer attractive education at all levels and conduct research in several areas. As a collaborative school, we spread knowledge to the surrounding society and co-develop new technology. We have been awarded the accreditation “Engaged University” by the international organisation ACEEU (Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities).
At the School of Engineering, research and teaching are conducted in computer science, computer engineering, and informatics. We have two expanding departments in these areas, with nearly 50 employees. Your placement will be in the Department of Computer Science and Informatics. The department offers education at undergraduate, advanced, and research levels. Teaching is conducted through bachelor’s, master’s, and engineering programmes that range from graphic design to software development and cybersecurity. The research conducted at the department supports education.
We have some of the highest application numbers in Sweden for our bachelor’s programmes in Networking and Cybersecurity and Web and Software Development. We have a master’s programme in Cybersecurity and are exploring opportunities to start a software development master programme. We are expanding and looking for an Associate or Assistant Professor of Computer Science with a specialization in Software Security to join our team.
Job description
As an assistant/associate professor, you will teach and conduct research focusing on software security. Depending on the applicant’s background, the teaching may be centered around software development (e.g., secure design, secure code, web security, security testing, etc.) or within cybersecurity (e.g., network security, penetration testing, IDS/IPS, etc.).
You are expected to build and maintain an academic and industrial network, actively apply for research funding, and play a key role in establishing and conducting research projects. You will keep yourself updated in your research area and the industrial and societal development of relevance for our department and keep our courses and programmes contemporary. You are also expected to establish collaboration with other departments/schools at Jönköping University.
Our aim is to strengthen research groups within the following fields:
- Security-focused development
- Cybersecurity
Qualifications
You should have a PhD in the relevant area and pedagogical merits according to the regulations for employment at Jönköping University. The candidate should also have documented skills in teaching in English. The ability to teach in Swedish, as well as industrial experience, is meritorious. Experience from research in cooperation with industry is of advantage.
The domain-specific requirements include knowledge and real-world implementation skills in security-focused development and a track record of attracting research funding from funding agencies relevant to a Swedish context.
It is meritorious if you have:
- The ability to teach in other areas relevant to our Computer Engineering programmes (Web Development, Object Oriented Development, Electronics, Embedded Systems, etc.)
- Are qualified for appointment as Associate Professor at JU.
You should be development and quality-oriented, responsible, and pedagogically skilled. You must be able to adapt your teaching to students with various cultural and thematic backgrounds. You should also be a strong team player and still be able to work autonomously and independently. It is also advantageous if you perform well in an interdisciplinary environment.
