Molecular Screening and Profiling
As an Associate Director - Molecular Screening and Profiling your main responsibilities will involve:
Creates and manages a team in the delivery of screening, mechanism of action and DMPK Wave 1 data for drug discovery projects to Therapeutic Areas
Develops people across Screening Sciences & Sample Management to maximize talent and create high performing teams
Maintains high personal and team external scientific reputation in relevant areas of biosciences
Manages a team in the identification, establishment and implementation of new science, technologies, methods, practices and ways of working, or initiates and performs research work for the development of new knowledge within area of scientific expertise
Manages a team to drive a forward looking science and technology vision and develop proposals for improved practice, or provides expert technical direction and problem solving into science and technology projects
Assists in the implementation of new methodology and technology related to own area of expertise, including training staff
Responsible for determining which new methodologies and technologies should be pursued, and making decisions about how much resources to invest in them, or contributes to this decision making process as a valued expert
Works across regions and skill groups within and outside of own function
Impacts on the Therapeutic Area globally by advising others including senior management on project related issues such as progress and priorities, as well as on future strategies
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of scientific and technical advances of potential benefit to the business, in broad area of expertise
Communicates scientific and technological developments within assigned area to colleagues at AstraZeneca, with the purpose of increasing general level of competence and industry awareness
Ensures own work, and the work of the whole team, is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. General Laboratory Standard (GLS).
As an Associate Director ? Molecular Screening and Profiling your skills and qualifications will include:
A degree and PhD or Bachelor?s/Master?s degree with an extensive experience in a relevant scientific discipline, and a continued passion for science
Expertise in in vitro pharmacology - screening, assay design & technology, mechanism of action studies, statistical tools and advanced data analysis
People management, leadership and communication skills
Management of risk using evaluative judgments in complicated or novel situations
An understanding of drug discovery and development
A passion for innovation in the screening sciences arena
Development of trusted relationships with internal and external scientific colleagues
