The Self Care business develops OTC, dietary supplement, diagnostic, and digital health solutions that exceed consumer expectations and improve health. The R&D site in Helsingborg, Sweden is one of J&J´s two Global R&D Hubs and primarily focusing on our global need-states in Smoking Cessation, Digestive Health and Cough & Cold. We continuously work on developing and building a portfolio of products and solutions delivering against current and future consumer needs.

Position Summary
The R&D Franchise Associate Manager will join a seasoned team responsible for identification, development, and commercialization of transformational innovation opportunities. The team works closely with commercial, supply chain, external innovation, IT, consumer and market research, business development, product design, medical, quality, and regulatory partners to shape the innovations and R&D pipeline and projects. This role will be responsible for the R&D leadership and execution of a portfolio of owned initiatives in the aforementioned area of Global R&D Hub responsibility. The position will report to Cough & Cold R&D Franchise lead as primary, although initiatives across our Need States are also anticipated.

Responsibilities:
As R&D Franchise lead and/or R&D team lead, drive R&D execution through building aggressive plans, escalating major issues and deviations from plan, risk management, driving immediate problem solving and aggressively progress key milestones.
Lead coordination of R&D Innovation initiatives incl. assessments of important trends, competitive industry as well as emerging academic landscape within the need states. Support commercial and supply chain partners to build an innovation pipeline and ensure that solution meets consumer and market demands.
Collaborate with quality, medical/ safety, and regulatory to ensure targeted solutions meet applicable standards.
Engage with consumer research, industrial/packaging design, and user experience colleagues to iteratively design features and experiences that delight consumers while driving positive health outcomes.
Support a curious and supportive innovation culture that encourages thoughtful risk-taking and openness to new ideas.
Responsibility for R&D expense budgets for appointed projects.
Potential international travel up to 10% time to ensure strong team performance across regions.

Qualifications - External
Bachelor's degree with at least 6+ years or Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant work experience in consumer self-care (OTC, Medical devices and Food supplements) product development or design.
Tech transfer experience & experience working with external partners preferred.
Solid experience collaborating with cross-functional partners required.
Experience with Risk Management processes including risk assessments and risk mitigation including advanced stakeholder management capability.
Relevant technical background and demonstrated intellectual curiosity are required.
Experience of consumer studies and evidence of using those studies to iterate on product design is preferred. Experience of developing other therapeutic solutions, such as apps, is a merit.
Experience dealing with project setbacks and quickly learning from unsuccessful attempts is preferred.
Must have experience of leading project teams as well as strong skills in collaboration, communication, leadership and ability to effectively explain scientific concepts.
Must have the ability to work individually (independently) as well as on a team.
Candidates need to be proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have strong oral and written communication skills in English.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the European Union and not require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future.
