Associate Principal Scientist in vitro ADME

Associate Principal Scientist in vitro ADME

Arbetsbeskrivning

Do you have experience in Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination (ADME) and Drug-Drug-Interactions (DDI)? Would you like to apply your expertise in a company that is accelerating innovative science and turn ideas into life changing medicines? Join us to discover future treatment of Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic diseases!

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated ADME scientist to join a dedicated team at the forefront of DMPK science, to innovate and support the portfolio of a major pharmaceutical company that has science at its heart and a tremendously strong pipeline whilst being based in the wonderful city of Gothenburg, Sweden.

As an in vitro ADME scientist you will be part of a team at the forefront of DMPK science focusing on disposition and analysis of small molecule, peptide, and nucleotide drug candidates, and expanding to cell and biologics therapies. We work with all aspects of drug disposition, including subcellular drug handling, drug interactions with a strong patient focus. We are accountable for the breadth of the CVRM drug portfolio, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate and witness what science can do.

What you'll do

You will act as an expert in your area providing proficient scientific advice on all aspects of drug disposition to project teams. You will provide significant input into the practical delivery of project goals across all modalities in the portfolio as well as develop and implement novel in-vitro approaches.

Responsibility includes:

*

Be responsible for the design, conduct, interpretation and reporting of in vitro ADME studies. You will apply novel in-vitro DMPK science, including e.g., 3D-cell cultures, across drug discovery and development to support project progression.
*

Serve as senior advisor to project teams and DMPK colleagues in mechanistic ADME and DDI challenges
*

Provide scientific leadership, mentorship, and laboratory supervision internally of less experienced scientists and training and development of scientific talents.

*

Provide scientific leadership by leading and driving collaborations with key academic centres and by presenting work through lectures and publications in top-tier scientific journals.
*

Identify improvements in technologies that can be successfully applied to a highly competitive drug discovery or development paradigm that contributes to achievement of short- and long-term business goals and influences strategic direction.
*

May be part of cross-functional work-streams and lead the development and implementation of DMPK scientific strategies, and act as a catalyst for scientific debate within the AstraZeneca science community.

Essential requirements

*

PhD degree or equivalent qualification, and at least three years postdoctoral experience

*

Background in Pharmacy, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Biosciences or similar
*

Broad knowledge about ADME processes and relevant in-vitro models of drug disposition, particularly experience from drug-drug interactions. Track record in development, characterisation, and application of translatable in-vitro models beyond small molecule drugs.
*

Versatile in in-vitro laboratory skills (e.g., handling of human cells and tissues, enzyme and transporter kinetic studies, principles of molecular and imaging analysis)
*

Scientific leadership, evidenced by a publication track record
*

Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing

*

Strong ability to engage and collaborate across boundaries with a problem-solving attitude and focus on delivery.

Desirable requirements

*

Experience from industry environment
*

Knowledge in omics technologies and bioinformatics, and experience in bioanalytical techniques, e.g., LC-MS.
*

Experience in SimCYP or Gastroplus
