Recent growth in the research activities and the well-established educational programs of the School of Information Technology (ITE) is enabling a significant expansion.
In 2018 the total research expenditures where over 70 MSEK and the school had over 850 students. Over the next two years, the School will grow significantly. This announcement is for a permanent, full-time Associate Professor position in Computer Science and Engineering within Digital Security.
General Duties
Research Duties - The appointed professor will contribute to the development of the research area within Computer Science and Engineering, preferably related to Digital Security or Forensics at Halmstad University. Day to day activities will include: carrying out research of high international quality; developing research projects and securing external funding; connecting the area productively with other research areas; representing the areas of Digital Forensics and Security internally and externally; participating in recruiting and mentoring doctoral students.
Educational Duties - The appointed professor will participate in the teaching of classes and project supervision of students, both at the undergraduate and at the master level. Teaching duties also include the development of current and new programs within Computer Science and Engineering with emphasis on Digital Forensics and Security.
The amount of research time will be dependent on the appointee's ability to secure external funding.
General Qualifications
The position requires having a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering or related area with an established research track record on Post Doc level or higher. The ideal candidate has a broad interest in research and education in Computer Science and Engineering, preferably with experience and expertise in Digital Forensics and Computer Security. Previous research and plans related to the Halmstad University research profiles, Smart Cities and Communities, and Health Innovation, is highly desirable.
Specific Duties and Qualifications
An Associate Professor position requires demonstrated leadership and administrative skills as well as collaboration with industry and outreach.
In addition to the qualifications stated above, assessment will include three components, namely, research, education, and collaboration, and will follow Halmstad University’s guidelines for appointment and promotion. Furthermore, qualified candidates are expected to demonstrate sustained excellence over the last five years in one or more following aspects of academic activity:
1) Conducting and publishing research;
2) Developing and leading externally funded research projects;
3) Teaching introductory courses as well as a broad range of courses at all levels;
4) Mentoring and supervision of doctoral, Masters, and undergraduate students;
5) Teaching and research in collaboration with industry (for example, through joint development of new projects or technologies). To be able to teach in introductory courses as well as taking on specific administrative roles, fluent level in the Swedish language is highly meriting.
Salary
Salary is to be determined by negotiation. The application should include a statement of the salary level required by the candidate.
