Information about the division
Quantum Device Physics Laboratory of the Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience -MC2 is the group of about 50 people representing international environment and the home of many national and EU projects, primarily in the field of superconductivity and quantum informatics. A large part of the group activities is devoted to graphene and its applications in sensors and metrology.

At Chalmers there are growing activities in the field of graphene. Chalmers is coordinating the Graphene Flagship which is one of the largest investments in European science. Chalmers has established Graphene Centrum and Graphene Innovation Lab. Chalmers has several Areas of Advance and has recently opened five post-doc positions to establish cross-area collaborations with emphasis on applications of graphene. The current position is to strengthen these activities by employing a specialist in graphene fabrication and its practical use in various devices.

Major responsibilities
As an associate professor in graphene fabrication and applications, you will establish a strong research program within graphene and other 2D materials, including efficient production, characterization, and device fabrication. Furthermore, you should actively apply for- and attract external funding and to cooperate with international research partners. The position includes teaching on all levels, as well as supervising Masters- and PhD students.

Position summary
The position involves research and teaching. A special emphasis is on the graphene fabrication techniques and research, also including other 2D materials and their combinations with graphene making functional heterostructures for various functional devices.

The position corresponds to a full-time tenured employment.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must hold a PhD in Physics, Engineering Physics or Chemistry.  The position requires that you have had postdoc position(s) outside your home University where you have demonstrated qualified research which have resulted in several well-cited publications. Such an evidence for ability to conduct research at an international level is essential. Experience of teaching and mentoring students at all levels and development of pedagogical methods is mandatory. 

Prior experience in graphene growth/device fabrication/usage is highly meritous, as well as experience with CVD technique and microfabrication of semiconductor- or photonic devices. It is valuable if you have a network of academic and industrial contacts, international experience of teaching outside Sweden as well as experience in referreeing publications and organizing conferences/workshops.

The successful applicant needs to have personal characteristics such as independency, excellent collaborative skills and an ability to communicate results in writing and presentations, also to non-experts.

The position requires proficient verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. If Swedish is not your native language, you must be able to teach in Swedish on undergraduate level after two years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
