Associate professor in information technology

Associate professor in information technology specialising in signals and systems engineering with special focus on signal/image processing and vision.

Duties
The work consists of research, participation in postgraduate education and supervision, as well as teaching and supervision at undergraduate and graduate levels. The applicant is expected to conduct research of high international quality, participate in and develop collaborations with national and international partners, actively seek external research funding, publish research results in scientific journals and contribute to the development of the research environment in terms of both research and education.

Qualifications
Those qualified for appointment as associate professor are, ... a person who has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve. The Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4, section 4 (2010:1064)

Candidates must have a good record of original research work and documented teaching abilities. The main emphasis in the assessment of the applicant is on scientific skills, research productivity and pedagogical skills. In addition, skills in developing and leading projects will be judged as being of high value.

In addition to the general qualifications listed above, Halmstad University requires that a senior lecturer has successfully completed teacher training for the higher education sector or in some other way acquired the equivalent skills and expertise. In case someone do not fulfill these requirements, the qualification must be acquired within two years from the starting date of the employment.

Other qualifications
To qualify for the position you should have a doctoral degree in information technology or equivalent. You should have experience of and be successful in carrying out teaching and research in the special field of the position. Experience in research projects is meriting, as well as publishing internationally and seeking and obtaining external funding for research. It is also meriting if you have done research on themes that are linked to CAISRs research focus. You should be self-motivated, have the ability to cooperate with others.

Assessment criteria
For employment as associate professor the following assessment criteria are in place:

-Ability to develop, lead and carry out research of the high international quality.  -Ability to collaborate with other researchers within academia and industry. 
-Ability to attract external research funding. 
-Ability to develop courses on different academic levels and to carry out high-quality teaching.
