Invitation for applications to the post of Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Research
at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine. Subject area: Biomedical research. Description of subject area: We seek to recruit researchers who are able to employ up-to-date methods in the fields of molecular science, genetics, cell biology and pysiology to enhance understanding of basic biological mechanisms intrinsic to various types of human disease.
Duties: The position involves teaching, research and administration. The Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer will be expected to stay abreast of developments in his/her own subject area and societal trends that have bearing on the aforementioned duties. The successful applicant to the post of Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer must be capable of conducting basic university-level education at Linköping University. The pedagogic approach of the Faculty of Health Sciences stresses learner-driven education.
Qualifications: Each candidate for this position is required to have a PhD or equivalent scientific competence significant to the subject area of the position and the duties it entails: furthermore the candidate shall have completed studies in pedagogy aimed at teaching on a university level or have otherwise acquired such competence, and shall have previously demonstrated such teaching skills at a school of higher education.
Grounds for assesment: Grounds for assessment when appointing to this position is the degree of fulfillment of the required skills as stated under qualifications; in addition, the degree of those administrative and other skills and knowledge pertinent to the subject area of the position and its specified duties. Moreover, the officials will assess the candidate's leadership skills and ability to advance scientific activity within the University, as well as the potential to collaborate within the wider community, including the dissemination of knowledge and findings related to research.
For this appointment, special emphasis will be placed on scientific merits as demonstrated through publication in high-level peer-reviewed international journals, as well as proven ability to attract external funding for research.
Scientific merit shall have been demonstrated through the candidate's own research and through planning and guidance of research activities. Scientific merit can even be established through research achievements in collaboration with other colleagues and an ability to disseminate research findings.
Pedagogic skills shall be proven through broad and sound knowledge in the pertinent subject areas. Pedagogic commitment shall also have been demonstrated by promotion enthusiasm and interest in the subject areas, by a proven ability to structure and organize the body of knowledge in courses curricula, to encourage students to self-learning, to carry on a discourse with students and colleagues, and to revitalize the learning and research processes.
The applicant is expect to have demonstrated his/her administrative capacity for leadership and staff development.
