Information about the department
The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor position is placed at the Division of Construction Management. The Division of Construction Management is one of seven divisions within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The department has about 180 employees and deals with every aspect of construction in the community - houses to live in, roads to travel on, and water to drink. It includes everything from planning to maintenance, taking into account the environment, energy and economics.
The Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor position is intended to strenghten the division of Construction Management primarily within Bachelor as well as Master education, but also within research and industry cooperation within the field of Construction Information Technology, visualisation, and Building Information Modeling. The division has about 20 members and its education and research focuses on construction processes, organising, leadership, strategy and innovation within construction as well as the design, implementation and use of information technology like BIM.
Within the field of Construction Management we provide courses and supervise thesis work in the 3 and 5 years progammes in Civil Engineering, Building Engineering and Business Development and Entrepreneurship in the construction sector. Furthermore, the division is involved in two master programmes: Design and Construction Project Management och International Project Management.

The division now intends to hire a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor who will be involved in the development and education in Construction IT; e.g., visualisation, virtual reality, BIM.
Major responsibilities
As Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, you will contribute with pedagogical and scientific expertise within the area of construction IT. You will be responsible for parts of the basic education within this area. The position also includes research and cooperation with industry. Your main task is to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in course and program development. The position also involves research and cooperation with industry. You cooperate with a team of teachers on the undergraduate level, and will be part of a research group.
The position includes the following tasks and responsibilities:
• Responsibility for teaching as well as for the development of education in the speciality area.
• To supervise students in our bachelor, master and PhD programmes.
• To apply for research funding and perform research.
• To collaborate with industry, society as well as within academia in Sweden and internationally.

Qualifications
The successful candidate for this position has the following qualifications:
• A Master's degree and PhD degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related topic
• Well documented teaching skills and experience from teaching and development of education at undergraduate and graduate levels, documented through a pedagogical portfolio.
• At least 15 higher education credits in teaching and learning in higher education or corresponding expertise.
• Well documented ability to supervise bachelor, master and PhD students.
• Well documented capacity and potential for high quality scientific research, evidenced by publication records.
• Capability to attract and carry out research projects with national and international partners.
You are expected to have proven expertise of the construction process, BIM, Virtual Reality as well as programming which is a part of the research in terms of developing different types of prototype applications related to Construction IT.
It is a merit if you have a network in the construction sector covering various players in the construction process.
Applicants should have an interest to work with the construction industry as an element within education as well as research.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English. The ability to teach in Swedish from the start is a merit. If Swedish is not your native language, you must be able to teach in Swedish on undergraduate level after two years. Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
The position's level will primarily be determined on the basis of your scientific qualifications.
