Associate senior lecturer in Chemistry

Associate senior lecturer in Chemistry

Arbetsbeskrivning

We are looking to recruit an associate senior lecturer in Chemistry, specialised in applied inorganic chemistry, for a fixed-term position of 4‑6 years at the School of Science and Technology.

Subject area
This position is in the subject: Chemistry, with specialisation in applied inorganic chemistry.

Background
The Man-Technology-Environment Research Centre (MTM) is one of two research environments focussing on research in chemistry within the School of Science and Technology at Örebro University. The centre is developing and expanding, and this post offers an exciting opportunity, for the right candidate, to be part of this. The School offers bachelor programs in chemistry, biology, and environmental science, with the latter focussing on sustainable food systems, and two Master’s programmes in chemistry.

We are looking to recruit an associate senior lecturer to join our team and help further strengthen and develop our research and teaching within applied inorganic chemistry. The successful applicant will conduct research within the MTM Research Centre and contribute to strengthening the understanding about trace element redistribution in contaminated systems, reclamation methods, mining waste, acid rock drainage (ARD) or secondary resource management (for instance slag, incineration ashes and mining waste).

Duties and responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include research, education, and collaborative work. The appointment as an associate senior lecturer at Örebro University is largely focused on the acquisition of research qualifications, with a smaller proportion of time being geared towards acquiring teaching qualifications. The successful applicant is expected to spend 70% of full time on research and 30% on teaching.

During the period of employment, an associate senior lecturer should develop their autonomy as a researcher and acquire further qualifications in terms of both research and teaching skills, in order to reach the necessary criteria for a position as senior lecturer. As an associate senior lecturer, one is also expected to contribute to the university’s development. This could include contributing to the development and management of new courses and programs, particularly regarding trace element redistribution, mobility, reclamation methods and secondary resource management.

Teaching duties may include general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, contaminant transportation, forensic chemistry, geochemical modelling, and instrumental analytical techniques (ICP-QMS, high resolution ICP-MS, MP-AES).

Research duties will include applying for research funding and participating in on-going projects. Research duties further include own research within the field of trace element redistribution/transportation in contaminated systems (soils, sediments, mining waste), reclamation methods, geochemical modelling or secondary resource characterisation and management (slag, incineration ashes, waste rock or tailings).
