About AstraZeneca
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world's most serious diseases. But we're more than one of the world's leading biopharmaceutical companies. We are a company that genuinely follows the science and values individuals at all levels; you'll be backed and encouraged to speak up, ask questions, and share ideas to push the boundaries of science and to continuously learn and explore.
At AstraZeneca, Biometrics is the home that supports all aspects of early and late stage drug development. We use our expertise in statistics, programming and clinical data to answer drug development objectives and reduce uncertainty in product development, driving better business decisions with quantitative reasoning.
Our diverse (therapy area aligned) teams of dedicated data experts work collaboratively across early and late phase clinical development, of both small molecules and biologics. This allows us to leverage and fuse our own skills with others to maximise impact. We are always expanding our knowledge to get a broad perspective of our portfolio, to consistently deliver optimised programme design, quality information, analysis and interpretation.
What does the Programme involve?
We have opportunities targeted at Statisticians with little or no experience in the pharmaceutical industry to work across all stages of development statistics activities. In this permanent position, you will spend the first two years at AstraZeneca working in a structured training programme, working on drug development projects. In addition, you will receive on-the-job statistical training and be part of a global training programme for Biometrics Graduates.
You will work in a highly collaborative team including quantitative, technical, regulatory and scientific expertise and together with your colleagues contribute to the design, analysis, interpretation, documentation and regulatory submission of our drug development programs.
Essential requirements
* MS/MSc (or equivalent) and/or PhD in Statistics - preferably with a strong mathematical foundation. Your MS/MSc/PhD in Statistics should be gained in 2021, 2022 or 2023.
* As our work is conducted cross-functionally on global projects, good collaboration, communication and influencing skills are important
* Good written and spoken English
* Attention to detail, with an ability to see the 'big picture'
* Passion for applying your statistical skills and an interest in pharmaceutical development
Why join us?
At AstraZeneca when we see an opportunity for change, we seize it and make it happen, because any opportunity no matter how small, can be the start of something big. Delivering life-changing medicines to our patients is about being entrepreneurial - finding those moments and recognizing their potential. Join us on our journey of building a new kind of organization to reset expectations of what a bio-pharmaceutical company can be.
Play an essential role in helping patients who need it the most. There is no better place to apply your statistical knowledge in a new and different way.
Make an impact and kickstart your career!
