The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. Automation Engineer

Duties:
You will join the team of the Advanced Neutron Environment Service and participate in the NESSE project - New Standards for Sample Environment. In collaboration with technical and scientific teams, you will carry out a number of different tasks and will contribute to the commissioning of new equipment:

- PLC programming and commissioning of a humidity-controlled chamber
- PLC programming and commissioning of a biological sample changer
- Modification of PLCs and commissioning of high-pressure regulators
- Programming of sequences and automation of a source of ultra-cold neutrons
- Programming and commissioning of a generic PLC with a view to deploying the SECoP protocol

Qualifications & experience:
You hold a Level 6 qualification (university degree or equivalent qualification) in Automation Engineering and have a sound knowledge of programming Schneider PLCs.
You are a meticulous team player, enjoy challenges and are keen to acquire new skills.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must have a sound knowledge of English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL).

Notes:
Specified-purpose 3-year fixed-term contract
Medical fitness for work under ionising radiation is required.
