Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania has taken the strategic decision to set up a 3rd industrial hub in China - a project to develop and implement full-scale assembly operations has been initiated within Scania Production & Logistics. One part of this project is to establish the Chassis Assembly plant and all its automation features. We are now looking for an Automation Engineer to join the project team to drive the shift toward Scania's digitalization journey!

In the project, you will be a part of an exciting journey to create a full-scale production plant in China. Starting from zero, the automation team is responsible to automatize production sequence, work orders, execution, and deviation handling.  

Your assignment
As an Automation Engineer at Chassis Assembly, you will have a cross-functional assignment, working together with the IT department, process engineering, product engineering, maintenance, quality, safety, and other areas.

One important task will be to lead the automation implementation for our line, this will include: building the production landscape, and contributing to the suppliers meeting with infrastructure network and programming knowledge. Also, you should lead the tests within suppliers and on our site as well.

The Automation Engineer must be in close contact with all new developments from our MES and SCADA systems, ensuring that it will be inside our process demands and Scania vision, taking into consideration a high-tech level factory for Chassis Final Assembly in China.

Your main responsibilities will span over a wide range of areas and your main activities among others will be:


• Develop the production landscape for the Scania China Chassis factory.
• Be in contact with infrastructure organisation, making sure that our network and hardware will match machine suppliers' needs.
• Be the contact person from the process engineering to the IT organization to bring their demands to life.
• Coordinate the commissioning and implementation phase from an automation point of view.
• Be part of suppliers' meetings, guarantying automation demands.
• Organize, coordinate and contribute to MES and SCADA implementation.
• Develop customer requests through IT organization. 

Your profile
We are looking for an engineer with experience with the Scania process, way of working, and systems.

It is required to have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or the equivalent knowledge acquired some other way. Ideally, you have at least 1 year of work experience in IT and Automation projects. The mission requires knowledge of automation as hardware, network, and software wise. You have a growth mindset and genuine interest in building relationships, solving problems, and pushing for positive change.

When it comes to communication you need to be fluent in English, both in speech and in writing, and comfortable presenting to peers and senior management. You will work in a fast-paced environment with changing demands where you are highly capable of setting priorities with strong project management skills. Your location
The China project team (TC) is based in Södertalje. Business trips abroad and to China will be considered.
