The Automation Development engineering department is responsible for development of existing Automation systems, and implementation of new Automation systems as well as BI solutions.
The team is expected to provide input to drive innovation and develop systems, equipment, etc, to improve manufacturing in mechanical-, control systems-, data collection and analytic tools areas.
The team is responsible of the whole development process from idea to first validated installation i.e., concept generation, engineering studies, design testing, prototype fabrication and first installation.
In the BI field, solutions to increase robustness and reliability are focus areas. The team is also responsible for analyzing and supporting manufacturing data collection systems.
The Automation Engineer will work with installation and continuous improvements to new and existing automation systems, assists manufacturing operations in problem solving with regards to the automation systems. Assists in the validation of process and facility automation.
This person will be the technical partner to the Operations teams throughout the life cycle of new and existing GX assay products. Daily interaction and engagement with R&D, Service Engineering, Manufacturing, and other functions within Cepheid is expected of this Engineer.
Actively participate in the installation and optimization of new and existing manufacturing equipment to ensure launch of new products and to meet future production demands.
Leads, provides support, coordinates or participates in operations-related activities required to new equipment:
IQ/OQ & PQ
production scale-up
technology transfer
As appropriate, serve as a technical liaison for other departments with regards to production activities, including, but not limited to, trouble shooting, writing of user requirement specifications, writing of production documents such as user manuals.
Use professional skills to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways within the bounds of company policies and procedures.
Maintain substantial and current knowledge of validation and process control requirements with strict compliance with applicable Quality Management System standards
Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC based control systems and associated components.
Configure, program, test and troubleshoot User Interface (UI) software for PLC based control systems.
Coordinate activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure the delivery of supplies or services needed to meet scheduled timelines.
