Automation Engineer - Scania Production China

Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.



Powertrain assembly in China – Full-scale Scania production setup from zero.

Scania has taken the strategic decision to set up a 3rd industrial hub in China. 
A project to develop and implement full-scale assembly operations has been initiated within Scania Production & Logistics. One part of this project is the establishment of the powertrain Assembly, including the assembly of gearboxes, axles, and engines, prepared for eMobility powertrain. 

In the project, you will be a part of an exciting journey to create a full-scale production plant in China. Starting from zero, the project team is responsible to design, build and launch production in a completely new factory.  

We are now looking for a candidate to join the manufacturing IT project team, with a focus on setting the requirements for the automation inside our new powertrain assembly factory.

Your main tasks


• Setting the requirements towards the line supplier for all new processes regarding automation 
• Setting the requirements towards Scania IT for all new processes regarding the SCADA solutions. 
• Ensure that the requirements of the automation are met during FAT and during the commissioning of the new processes. 
• Work in close cooperation with the MES engineers and Process engineers, setting up the new production system

Since the corporate & project language is English and you will have International contacts, it is required that you can confidently express yourself in English, both orally and in writing. 

We seek people with the capability to independently drive activities in the context of a broader team project and with the ability to break down and solve problems that occur along the way. Meritorious is a university degree in engineering or similar and at least a couple of years of work experience, preferably as a process engineer. 

Your location 
The China project team is based in Södertälje. However, flexible work locations may be applied to reflect competencies needed and project deliveries. Business trips abroad and to China must be considered. For some roles, a longer location in China is possible or needed.
