In this role you will work together in a flexible team of Automation Engineers and System Developers, all sharing a wider area of responsibility but with individual tasks and specialties. Therefore, you will have the freedom to independently pursue solutions to challenges and the achievement of larger organizational goals. In other words, you will have the opportunity to work with various tasks and projects, from start to finish, in a very wide area of expertise (e.g., electricity, grazing, furnaces, shipping, and more).

Your main task will be to maintain, refine, and build Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems across our site in Degerfors. Coherent with Outokumpu's “Ways of Working”, there will also be a strong emphasis on continuous improvements, safety, and sustainability projects at hand. The working hours are daytime with some duty on-call (beredskapsarbete).

Your role in short
Update and improve existing system functionality
Design PLC and drive systems for motor drives
Cooperate with other engineers and system developers to ensure our production processes can achieve the high-quality and high-productivity thresholds we aim for
Participate in projects aimed at specifying requirements for future machine purchases


About you
We are looking for a person with high self-drive, intuitiveness, and eagerness to learn. To be able to integrate the many aspects of our company aims, you must have a desire to understand our processes and work from that understanding to improve functionality and maintainability. Since you will work with very competent colleagues in different functions you need to be open-minded and responsive as well as have the courage to take the lead.

Further qualifications for this role are:
Post-gymnasium education in a relevant field such as automation, engineering, or equivalent
We value experience working in an industry setting, with electricity, and/or CNC machines
Previous experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting is a merit
Knowledge of and experience with programming L1, PLC, and HMI systems
As we operate in a global market and are part of an international group, the role requires that you are fluent in Swedish and English
