Background of thesis project
All parts of our world today are becoming digitized. Manufacturing is no exception. Excelling in our industry is not only about Performing at a high level. It is also about continuously searching for transformational opportunities to gain a competitive advantage. The study will deep dive into the world of autonomy, and more specifically around the capabilities to move material inside warehouses and factories WITHOUT human steering.
Suitable background of students
We are looking for bachelor students that have a passion for the intersection of emerging technology and cultural transformation. We will be investigating not only what is possible technically, but also HOW to stair-step technology into an organization.
Description of thesis work
This study seeks to accelerate internal material handling autonomy by answering:
What transports are currently possible to make autonomous?
What companies are the current leaders?
What part(s) of the Volvo Group are the furthest ahead?
What is the Volvo Group business case for accelerating?
How might we do this when considering both the technical and cultural challenges?
