Bachelor Thesis: End User Study of an Engineering Design Tool

Position Description


There is an application built for Engineers at Volvo used to design instructions for manufacturing process to be followed in all Volvo factories.
This application is now around 15 years-old and needs a makeover.
The objective of this thesis work is to perform an end user study aiming to identify end user needs and frustrations.

Starting date: Q1 of 2023
Number of students: 2 to 3

Work tasks would include:
Interview end users
Analyze the interview and update UX artifacts like personas
Gather frustrations and opportunities and document them in relevant UX tools
If there is time, the students can work creatively to propose improvements to the problems found

We’re looking for people with these set of skills Required:
Currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Interaction Design, Cognitive Science, Computer science, or Software engineering.

Desirable:
Practice with UX analyze tools
Knowledge of interview methods
Experience with design tools
