The position

We thrive in using the latest technology, always keeping up to date, and constantly develop our ways of working. We work with Node.js in a micro-services architecture that runs serverless in AWS. Also, we build our whole product here in-house.

The Market Expansion team is set up with 4 Backend Developers (Node.js) and 3 Platform Developers (Android, iOS, Big screen). The team delivers on clear goals based on our customer journey and are fully autonomous in how to create the best solutions to reach their goals. As a Backend Developer in the Market Expansion team, you will have the opportunity to grow even further within your role, as all the members of the team will work with and drive the architectural decisions and suggestions related to market expansion. You will learn all about the different parts of our product and have lots of complex problems to analyze and discuss and solve together within your team and together with other stakeholders. The competence and skills you will contribute with and the work you will do is super interesting, fun and really important for our company!

The position starts with being a full-time member of the UK launch team, where you will contribute with your competence and craftmanship as well as get important learnings of entering new markets. When the UK launch is finalized you will continue working as a member of the Market Expansion team with the long-term mission to enable entering new markets in an efficient way.

Some of your daily tasks will include:

- Working with microservice/serverless architecture
- Ship code to production multiple times a day
- Plan and execute load tests
- Find new ways to technically improve market entries
- Modify and configure Viaplay backend services to enter new markets
- Communicate with other teams to ensure seamless market entries

What we are looking for

We are looking for motivated developers with enthusiasm for software development and an interest in constantly improving their skills. You have worked with a variety of tasks requiring complex problem solving using Javascript. If you also have an interest in multiple programming languages, you will fit right in!


Ideal candidates also meet the following requirements:

- Several years of professional experience developing web-based services, using Node.js.
- Good understanding of REST API.
- Experience in developing services in AWS.
- Ability to write testable and scalable code
- A person that wants to help shape the future of our product with regards to expanding into new markets.
- A team player that wants to grow within the craftmanship.


Bonus requirements that will make you stand out from the rest:

- Knowledge in Java is nice to have, but not mandatory.
- Experience in working with some modern frontend frameworks, such as React.js.
