Joint Academy is a global leader in delivering digital treatment for chronic joint pain, connecting patients with licensed Physical Therapists. Backed by science, our clinically validated treatment programs include individualized exercises, interactive education and tracking tools.
As a Backend Engineer you will work on our backend system consisting of services implemented in Go and Ruby on Rails. Our tech team consists of 50 developers working in a remote-first setting, organized in small cross functional product teams. In your team you will work closely together with a product manager, UX designer and other engineers to plan, implement and deliver features that has a direct impact on how we help to reduce pain and improve the quality of life for our patients.
Your focus will be on designing and implementing systems and APIs that deliver digital treatment and scales to tens of thousands of patients. You will also collaborate with other backend engineers as we continually invest in architecture, frameworks, tools and practices to keep our platform healthy in the long term. Our tech stack is a mix of Go and Ruby on Rails for our backend services running on AWS, with client applications implemented in React and React Native.
Requirements
We are looking for software engineers with experience of building backend services for mobile and web applications. If you have experience with service based event driven architecture that is a strong bonus, as that is the path we are taking and you will have a great chance to contribute to this journey. You probably have deep expertise in several areas, but you are also able to learn whatever is needed to get the job done. Here are a few of the technologies we are relying on at the moment: Go/Golang, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, AWS, PostgreSQL, Redis, Rest APIs and GraphQL; experience with these are a bonus but most important is that you are open to learning and working with them on a daily basis.
Some key points:
You have 3+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in product companies
You take pride in your work and believe that high quality code pays off both in the long and short term
You have strong communication skills and understand how to collaborate effectively in a remote first workplace
You are based anywhere in Sweden and hold a permanent Swedish job permit
