Backend Engineer

We are looking for backend engineers to join our Expansion team and be a key part of the expansion mission to grow the global user base.

Job Summary:

As a backend engineer on the Expansion team, you’ll work very closely with the other engineers in the team, localization management, expansion product manager and product designer.

You can expect to be a driving force in the team’s business critical mission to engage and enable users worldwide, run experiments and solve technical problems with quick feedback loops.

Responsibilities:

Build, support and evolve the effective and scalable system integrations & processes for localization of new and future content sources.

Identify and perform technical- and product related delivery work to enable continuous launches of new localized languages as well as enable updates to existing localizations.

Perform discoveries and experiments related to wider and deeper localization and culturalization of product and contents.

Collaborate with technical stakeholders, researchers, data scientists in various teams.

You can expect a varied day-to-day and month-to-month where we all, in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, contribute to company wide knowledge sharing, and enable other teams ability to contribute to our global expansion

Requirements:

Thorough backend experience in Python (or any other general-purpose language)

Experience in designing database models and scalable server-side architecture

Understanding of cloud-based web applications infra and deployment (GCP, Docker, CI/CD)

Interest in investigating, explaining, documenting and teaching as well as coding and quality assurance work.

Willingness to execute and own both big and small tasks.

Pragmatic mindset enough to enjoy improvement and automation when it makes sense.

Preferred Qualifications/ Bonus Skills:

An understanding of third party systems, integrations and processes.

Some frontend knowledge, or a desire to learn.
