About Star Stable Entertainment
Star Stable Entertainment was founded in 2011, sparked by a desire for a game that could make a difference. Although half of gamers are girls and women, they were under-represented in the gaming industry, both as characters and creators. We dreamed of an epic online world where tween and teen girls could share an amazing experience. And we wanted to challenge how things were done in a male-dominated industry.
The result was Star Stable Online, which has gone on to become the world’s number one horse game with over 21 million registered users across 180 countries. The Position
As a Backend Lead you will work hands-on with the development of our backend services to continuously bring new features and services to our players. At the same time, you will guide a small team of technical personnel within your technical domain. You will act as a tech coach and mentor, guiding the team through technical issues and challenges. You will be the driver to ensure we keep our backend systems up to date and improve our technical platform as we move along.
As a Backend Lead you:
Are responsible for design, development, architecture and the quality within your area
Analyse users' needs and provide relevant technical solutions to satisfy them
Identify and communicate risks and ensure decision-making in areas related to the craft
Ensure that code quality and good working practices are communicated, developed and maintained
Act as a tech coach and mentor and encourage knowledge sharing, guiding the team through technical issues and challenges.
Lead and coach individuals towards targets through 1-on-1 meetings.
Make sure you have a happy healthy team
Conduct hands-on talent planning short and long term, recruitment, onboarding, offboarding and salary reviews within your team. Ensure workplace requirements are covered with support from the People function.
We are looking for someone with:
At least 5 years hands-on experience developing scalable, standalone services following a microservice architecture.
At least 2-3 years hands-on experience with both synchronous and asynchronous communication protocols.
Good understanding of troubleshooting a distributed scalable system
At least 3 years hands-on experience with Python and/or GO
At least 3 years hands-on experience with containers/Docker
Hands-on experience with Git and Github actions
