Battery Electrical & EMC Engineer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

Background
As part of our mission to enable the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way we have just launched our first-generation battery electric vehicles; the XC40 and C40 Recharge. They are powered by an in-house designed battery developed by our great battery team in Gothenburg. To follow this, we are now working on the next-generation electric vehicle batteries that will propel our future products.

Opportunity
Volvo Cars commits to be leading in electrification and, in 2030, our aim is that all our vehicles will be electric. Therefore, we need to deepen our involvement in all aspects of battery development. We are looking to strengthen our team with an Electrical & EMC engineer in order to increase our ability to design next-generation batteries for Volvo Cars.

Do you like to work on the component level but also understand the relation to vehicle level? As Electrical & EMC Engineer in our battery team, you will gain an understanding of the whole battery system. You will be surrounded by experienced colleagues; we will challenge you and expect you to do the same to bring out the best from each one of us.

Your Contribution
In the daily work, you cooperate closely with the mechanical and electrical designers as well as the verification engineers. You actively support and guide design teams within the area of EMC. You keep track of EMC and electrical performance status for all battery variants in development. You lead EMC design reviews and document learnings in design guidelines as well as define work needed, both in design, reviews and verification.

You are involved in the whole development, from the early phase evaluating new tech solutions and performing benchmarking until the vehicle is in the field, and we need to resolve and learn from potential issues. Last but not least you work to enable more use of computer-aided engineering tools for EMC verification.

You
We think that a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (Electrical, Physics or similar) will be a good foundation for you to stand on, along with a genuine interest in electronics design.

Although practical experience from EMC related work and analytical skills will be crucial. If you also have experience of high voltage and/or CAE simulations there is star potential.

You have good attention to detail and enjoy finding innovative solutions to challenging problems. You thrive from working together with others to contribute to a safer and more sustainable future!
