Nasdaq’s Economic & Statistical Research (ESR) is looking for an Analyst to join the team. The Nordic ESR team provides the Nordic & Baltic region analytical support for all Nasdaq business units. This is achieved by providing Business Intelligence systems for self-service analysis, reporting of recurring statistics and bespoke research services for ad-hoc questions, all to help improve trading, capital formation, market structure and microstructure. The team consists of a dozen employees that work across three different areas: Technology, Research and Statistics.
ESR Tech maintains data warehouses, as well as BI and automated reporting systems. ESR Statistics produces data and reports for internal business stakeholder, as well as official statistics for the public and national/international organizations such as the FSAs, Riksbanken and FESE. ESR Research performs research on market quality.
Your role and responsibilities
In the role, you will provide analysis and support for several business areas: Listing Capital Markets, Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives and Commodities. Your responsibilities include
Gathering and processing trading and listings data
Monthly reporting of trading and listings data externally and to management, and performing both qualitative and quantitative analysis to support business decisions.
Use different BI and reporting solutions, primarily SAP Business Objects, QlikView and Tableau. In this role, you will also come across data analytics programming languages such as SQL and R.
Have frequent contact with all levels of management, product development, sales, and other business support functions as well as external stakeholders and customers, providing excellent learning opportunities.
Collaborate with the ESR Tech team to drive improvements.
We expect you to have
A degree within Finance and/or Engineering
Several years of relevant working experience with knowledge of capital markets and financial products
Experience producing recurring reporting and business intelligence, especially management reporting
Ability to create clear, concise and organized presentation and communication material
Have high attention detail and strong analytical skills
Experience with continuous improvements and creating new reports. E.g. identifying and investigating data issues, producing change requests and testing
An interest in business intelligence, trading and capital markets
It would be great if you have
Experience from working in a trading environment for cash equities, equity derivatives, fixed income or commodities
Experience collaborating with IT, developers and data engineers to drive improvements to data models or data quality
Proficiency in some programming or scripting languages, e.g. SQL or R
Strong knowledge of econometric and/or statistical methods is meriting
