Description of position:
The Bioinformatic Software Engineer position is meant to accelerate the pace and capacity for TIGERQ market entry, with a specific focus on accurate NGS analysis and product development. The Bioinformatic Software Engineer will work to develop a number of NGS pipelines for different experimental questions (WGS, RNAseq, ChIPseq), and develop current patented TIGERQ analysis towards WGS mutational quantification. As part of our startup acceleration team the Bioinformatic Software Engineer will work closely with marketing, sales and production scientists to give key insight into the complexities and opportunities of current state-of-the-art NGS workflows.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Use current TIGERQ principles to build a new high accuracy WGS mutational analysis tool for pre-clinical testing.
Develop pipelines for key NGS applications to be offered as part of TIGERQ services.
Communicate with users, consultants, and web development team to push quality development of analysis pipelines.
Analyze sequenced TIGERQ samples with current and future pipelines using HPC framework.
Prepare and give presentations on current analysis products and R&D progress.
Collaborate with sales and marketing team to develop marketing materials and sales strategies.
Take part in a flexible and dynamic startup working environment.
Qualifications:
PhD or MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology or a related field.
Important – more than 5 years of post-graduate computational work experience.
Hands-on experience with bioinformatics methods appropriate for NGS applications (targeted sequencing, RNAseq, ChIPseq, and de novo genome assembly).
Hands-on experience with genome alignment, mapping, variant calling, and annotation (e.g. BWA, Bowtie, STAR, GATK, samtools, bcftools).
Important - deep understanding of NGS variant calling methods, with accompanying statistical calculations.
Experience with open source bioinformatics and genome analysis tools (e.g. GATK, samtools, bedtools).
Important - Experience designing and developing research and/or production grade bioinformatics tools and pipelines for NGS applications.
Important - Solid experience in Python, and demonstrated experience in other programming/scripting languages: R, Bash.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with other team members and cross discipline functionalities.
Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment preferred.
Experience with Azure preferred
Fluent in English, with Swedish as a plus. Nearly all communication will be in English.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills, prioritization, and attention to details.
Skills:
High emphasis on self-motivation, work schedule management, planning, and problem solving.
Ability to learn as part of a rapidly developing product/service portfolio.
Understanding the startup culture, though active engagement, lean performance, and iterative milestones.
