Bioinformatician

Job description
A clinical laboratory has been set up in Solna with the goal of increasing the country's capacity to detect coronavirus infection. The lab was established in April and has rapidly expanded, currently employing 60 co-workers. The laboratory is located within Biomedicum in Solna, which offers state-of-the-art technology for viral diagnostics. ABC labs is now aiming to further expand the staff with an experienced bioinformatician. The work will primarily involve analysis of sequence data from patient samples, but other tasks may also be added. The assignment is intended to start as soon as the right candidate is identified, so do not hesitate to send in your application as soon as possible!

Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the analysis of large-scale data sets generated from clinical samples. You will have overall responsibility for the bioinformatics and statistical analysis carried out at ABC-Labs. The work also includes data storage and handling, as well as having an advisory role regarding data generated for patient diagnostic purposes.

You will be working with people with varying nationalities and, as such, it is necessary that you have the ability to express yourself fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. Furthermore we believe you are someone who is responsible, with collaborative and communicative prowess. Your personal qualities are of utmost importance.



Qualifications
Degree in bioinformatics together with work experience within bioinformatics / systems biology. 
Previous experience of having analyzed large datasets is a must. 
It is meritorious if you have experience in programming in any of the following languages; R, Pearl, and / or Matlab. 
If you have previous experience of bioinformatics work and processing of NGS data related to infectious diseases, virus sequencing and virus terminology, we see it as a big plus. 
Having experience with handling patient data and the quality requirements that this entails is highly meritorious.

For this role, it is important to be able to independently plan and document your work. At the same time, you understand the importance of working in a team and it is therefore key that you are flexible with good collaborative ability. As a person, you are structured, thorough and communicative. As the lab is relatively new and is developing at a fast pace, it is an advantage if you are adaptable and can see opportunities for improvement. With us, the pace can occasionally be high, and it is therefore important that you are result-driven and enjoy working efficiently and with high quality.
