The Arena
AstraZeneca is currently making large investments to increase our research capability in Inhaled Pharmaceuticals, in Mölndal, Sweden. We are investing in new equipment, new technologies and more people. We now aim to increase the number of people working with Product Development for Inhalation by 50%. We therefore seek people with knowledge in various skills relevant for inhaled drug delivery, such as formulation science, analytical chemistry, solid state properties, device development and biopharmaceutical sciences.
AstraZeneca Mölndal is one of AstraZeneca?s three core sites for drug research, with about 2.500 employees at site. At Product Development, Sweden, a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Development, we focus on the fields of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases and on Respiratory, Inflammatory and Autoimmune Diseases. Within Product Development Inhalation we have an exciting pipeline, consisting of both new molecules and new devices. The unit currently comprises 80 people, dedicated to research and development for new inhaled drug products and we want you to be a part of growing our expertise in this area.
The Role
As a Biopharmaceutical Expert you are anticipated to provide biopharmaceutical expert input into respiratory product development projects and independently lead method development and research projects with the area of inhalation biopharmaceutics.
Examples include:
Providing guidance on design of appropriate in vitro tests to predict aerosol clinical performance, including impactor tests as well as dissolution tests
Provide predictions of clinical performance of inhalation products based on in vitro as well as in vivo data using mechanistic in silico models
Support design of clinical studies and clinical trial materials based on expert knowledge on clinical trial material performance
Support design of active pharmaceutical ingredients based on expert knowledge of how material and molecular properties interact to provide an optimal inhaled medicine
Requirements
We seek a broad range of expertise in these roles. We are looking for you who are considered to be an expert in this area, have a PhD in relevant topics and we are also looking for newly graduates typically from pharmaceutics, chemistry and chemical engineering. The career level of the positions will be set according to the background of the applicants.
