The Faculty of Medicine is a part of Lund University, and is responsible for education and research within medicine and healthcare. Our academic programs are closely linked with the healthcare system and are firmly anchored in the faculty’s strong research tradition. Our research spans a broad field within experimental preclinical research, near-patient clinical research and health sciences research. Job assignment
The job assignment as assistant researcher will include the following:
- Development and use of animal models for Parkinson’s disease generated by use of AAV vectors encoding for human disease causing proteins.
- Development and implementation of plate based assays for detection and quantification of human alpha-synuclein protein in biofluids obtained from animal models or human samples.
-Histological processing of fixed tissue and quantitative analysis of cell numbers using computer assisted stereological estimation tools.
- Maintenance of complete electronic records for all experimental work using database oriented electronic lab books (e.g. LabGuru).
Qualifications
- MSc Degree in biomedicine of equivalent.
- PhD Degree in experimental medical science or equivalent with direction to neuroscience.
- Extensive documented work experience in neurodegenerative diseases area with focus on Parkinson’s disease models.
- Candidates who have high level of documented experience in techniques including but not limited to animal stereotaxic surgical techniques, use of recombinant viral vectors in the brain, histopathology of brain tissue, light and confocal microscopy, plate based assays for trace analyte quantification, RNA and DNA quantification are going to be considered.
- Candidates with experience in team work and excellent communications skills is a must-have quality.
- Candidates who can provide evidence for excellent presentation skills and ability to write scientific grants and research articles will be preferred.
Terms of employment:
Temporary position for 6 months.
