Every year, about 600 students study in our programs and about 45 doctoral students in the doctoral program. A large part of the department's clinical training takes place in collaboration with the National Dental Service in the Västra Götaland region.

The Department of Periodontology is active in a wide range or research fields. The presently announced position is primarily linked to the evaluation of decontamination methods at implant sites. Using number of established in-vitro models and advanced imaging techniques, the aim is to identify effective mechanical and chemical approaches in a pre-clinical setting.

Researcher

Duties

This position consists primarily of research within the fields of periodontology and dental implants. The work includes contributions in experimental in-vitro models using cell and biofilm culturing, tests of various decontamination methods (surfaces of dental implants) and advanced imaging analyses through electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Relevant statistical analyses of research data are also to be performed. The candidate is expected to be able to manage all components listed above largely independent of outside help. 

Qualifications

The candidate should be a trained researcher (PhD or equivalent) and have detailed knowledge and experience in image analysis (electron microscopy and image software), pre-clinical models related to surface decontamination and a basic understanding of statistical analysis. A dental degree is not an absolute requirement but is preferred due to the area of research.

Working experience

Previous experience of working with above-mentioned models and methodology within the area of dental research is an advantage. The candidate should also be used to cooperating with technical staff (eg image technicians) and with laboratory staff.

Employment

The employment is a permanent position, 10% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Odontology. Starting date: as soon as possible or as agreed.
