This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful school with a tight team feeling and positive culture. IES Jönköping started in 2009 and has grown to be the biggest compulsory school in Jönköping County. We still have the same Principal who founded the school in 2009 which speaks volumes about our commitment to providing quality education.
The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal and leads the school’s pastoral development. This includes behavior, student care, communication with parents and the all-round development of how we foster healthy and secure children.
The role includes:
· Long-term strategic developments on a whole school level – policy, plans and routines
· Hands-on leadership and coaching of middle leaders in their daily work – leading meetings, providing feedback and advice on specific situations
· Coordinating and collaborating with other senior and middle leaders around behavior, student development and student care work
· Working and cooperating with staff, students,  families and external bodies
· Assisting the Principal with various projects and responsibilities


The Assistant Principal will build upon and implement behavior and welfare systems in the school, ensuring teachers can teach and students can learn. As part of the school leadership team you will work closely with the Principal and Coordinators on developing the whole school long-term.
The successful candidate will be a solution-focused leader and a positive, supportive role model. They will work within and develop existing systems and routines, but also enjoy autonomy and the possibility to try new things. They will be a strong presence around the school, visible and accessible.


The ideal candidate has:
· Teaching qualifications – or a relevant academic degree
· Is comfortable speaking both English and Swedish at work (native fluency not required)
· Knowledge of pastoral support / student care work
· Leadership experience – senior or middle
· A positive, professional and proactive attitude
· Resilience to the day-to-day pressures that any role in educational leadership naturally involves


Start date: Latest August 1st, an earlier start date could be beneficial.

About the school
Internationella Engelska Skolan in Jönköping is a Swedish compulsory educational school, following the Swedish School Law and Lgr 11. We have grades 1 to 9 with a plan to develop Pre-school class for August 2021. The school is proudly multilingual and multicultural: half of our team are from outside Sweden and our students speak over 40 different languages.
