Business Unit Marine is a global business function for the Marine segment within Penta. BU Marine includes Sales organization, Product Management, Pricing, Finance, Marketing, as well as cross functional work towards the global functions within Penta and the Volvo Group. We are now looking for a person willing to take on a new and very important function – BU Marine Data Analytics Manager.

Data Analytics is an area becoming more and more important in all areas of Volvo Penta, as a strategic tool for shaping our future success. We have an emerging community of analytics people within different areas of the Penta organization. We are in the early stages but rapidly evolving, convinced to shape a more intelligent enterprise. Analytics are key themes for all Volvo Penta organizations, and we continue to add further people and competence in this area to increase performance, deliver intelligence, and to scale up operations of data and analytics solutions.
BU Marine Data Analytics Manager
The central BU Marine department is responsible for long term profitable growth of the Marine business. We are now looking for an outstanding candidate to take on this new role – BU Marine Data Analytics Manager. You will be responsible for building-up our capability in analytics to increase sales performance and profitability, e.g., deliver intelligence on actual sales and “white spots”. You are expected to foster analytics insight in our, and other, teams. You will evolve our understanding in product and customer sales, prices, discounts, profitability analysis, market share, and where we have opportunities for improvements. You will report to VP Finance and Business Control, but work close with Engine Sales, Service Market as well as with Product Management. Strategy work and simulations related to this will be part of the role.

Being the Center Point for Marine Sales Analytics in Volvo Penta
Utilize data to identify business opportunities and the corresponding actions to capitalize upon them.
Being owner (Key User) for existing tools and applications in this area, but also explore new technologies and working methods
Being a driver of master data enhancement
Extensive collaboration with various stakeholders and functions
Being a contributor in the analytics community within BU Marine, Volvo Penta and the wider Volvo Group
This position is located in Volvo Pentas HQ in Gothenburg.
Position Qualifications
Core Competences & Personality
Skilled in analytics and data visualization, able to tell a story based on data (PowerBI/Qlik)
Like to work with sales and business development
Problem solving attitude
Excellent in presenting & communication (written and verbally)
General IT system and process knowledge
Entrepreneurial approach and can-do attitude
Capability to frame and drive investigations towards agreed targets and expectations
Networking and collaborative skilled
Experience of structuring and handling data of scale.
Proficiency in 1 of more scripting languages is seen as a merit (Python, R, Java, Apache Spark…)
Preferred Qualification and Experience Requirements
University degree
Fluently in English
Preferably 2-5 years’ experience from positions with similar scope
