To achieve this vision, drastically reducing the emissions of the total value chain is set as the first step. The remaining contribution will be from removing and storing carbon from the atmosphere through forestry, agriculture and products within value chain, and the actions of going beyond IKEA.
Job Description
As Business Analyst, you will enable IKEA to set, report and meet a strategic target for Removing and Storing Carbon through Forestry, Agriculture and Products. This will be achieved by developing IKEAs capability to obtain and analyse relevant data to monitor the climate impact of the land use connected to the raw material sourcing and its integration into IKEAs climate performance framework. You will create a method that enables us to quantify and monitor land carbon removals and emissions connected to IKEAs wood and agricultural commodities supply in an accurate and efficient way. Secure implementation of the method.
You will be part of securing a performance framework which supports our value chain transformation towards climate positive by understanding the footprint of our material use and collaborating with external partners for the development of reporting standards. You will also be crucial in for IKEAs contribution to climate mitigation through better forest and land management practices around the world!
You will work with different groups and networks to develop new tools, competences, infrastructure and capabilities in our organisation.
As Climate Business Analyst, your main assignments will be:
Create a process for the quantification, reporting, and analysis of the land use carbon footprint connected to IKEAs wood and agricultural commodities sourcing and lead its’ implementation.
Develop an efficient working method to obtain quality data and information needed to monitor the land use footprint, within all relevant sourcing regions.
Define reporting-, resource- and system requirements that are aligned with IKEAs digital platforms and ongoing wood and agricultural commodities tracing and traceability development initiatives.
Lead competence development for relevant IKEA co-workers and stakeholders to ensure the capability of monitoring IKEA land use and climate footprint.
Detect, analyze and implement potential improvements as well as technological solutions that lead to increased data granularity within the different sourcing regions, where these improvements will support IKEA to meet requirements and continuously improve its’ land carbon removal and emission reporting.
Suggest and develop a method that supports climate reporting for the annual IKEA Sustainability Report. This method will secure timely data delivery of high quality, as automated as possible, and adaptable to the achieved data resolution.
Secure that the land use carbon footprint assessment method provides accurate results that can provide meaningful decision support for business owners. Uncertainties are quantified and transparently communicated.
Identify and analyse wood- and agricultural commodities based businesses with big impact on climate performance within the sourcing structure, and ensure they are prioritized for securing relevant climate performance evaluation as support for critical business decisions.
Identify development areas to improve the climate impact of land use systems. Point out opportunities for implementing improved land management that support IKEAs journey towards becoming climate positive.
Support the development of IKEAs capability to consider and improve the climate impact of storing carbon in biogenic products
Support IKEA to analyse and respond to development of external regulations, policies, statements etc. produced by our external stakeholders and position IKEA and our response in line with IKEAs climate- and forest positive commitments.
Qualifications
To succeed & shine in this role, we wish that you have:
Excellent analytical skills in data and complex systems
Ability to translate complex matters into simple and practical solutions (working in a business context)
Capability to lead and influence people through indirect leadership
Academic degree in land use and climate change or equivalent
Experience with developing of Greenhouse Gas Protocol Land Sector and Removals Guidance
Experience of fieldwork in forestry and agriculture
Capability in translating scientific knowledge into a business context
Good understanding of local land use issues in a global context
Proven capability of working well in a team
In depth knowledge of the IPCC LULUCF standard for GHG accounting
Able to analyse and model GHG balances in corporate LU/LUC supply chains
Knowledge of GIS Systems (e.g. ArcGis or Grass) is an advantage
