Business Analyst - Digital Lab Platform

AstraZeneca are looking for a product focused Business Analyst to work on our Digital Lab Platform Team with a passion for improving user experience.

The engine of Research & Development is in our Labs - it's where 1500 scientists perform 100k experiments a year to support and drive our drug projects. We are looking for a Business Analyst to join the Platform team who can partner with our Business teams to understand the 'why' of the portfolio of Digital Lab Applications, used by Scientists, for primary analysis, for lab workflows and driving lab operations.

In Early Science, we have highly skilled scientists in our labs who experiment and support complex drug projects. The environment is driven by scientific and technical innovation with a high level of diversity in workflows, data and vendors.

You will be part of our global development team working seamlessly with both the Business Product Owners and our Engineering team. You'll be key in the analysis and solution development of new systems and changes to the existing estate to make sure everyone is on the same page and that solutions delivered give a great user experience.

What you'll do

Our Business Analysts don't just analyse data, business requirements and enable change, they also have user empathy and are key to designing great products

* You'll run PI Planning sessions to ensure that the highest value work is prioritised on the backlog
* You'll be able to translate requirements into design specifications which reflect business process, functional design, non functional considerations and useability
* You'll be able to correlate complex data and use this to influence the product roadmap by giving data driven recommendations
* You'll be focused on value and how to visualise this with your product owner and key stakeholders
* You'll ask objective and challenging questions to help to develop the product so that it is fit for our user needs
* You'll be aware of modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize a great product and user focused culture
* You'll be a key member of the team that transforms an estate of silo'd systems into an ecosystem that delivers great user experiences


Our Platform Business Analysts are passionate about delivering great products and solutions to users. We want to bring an individual into the team that is not afraid to explore, iterate, fail, and learn.



You should apply if

* You have experience supporting a Product Owner and wider teams in delivering insights and performance, including balancing new development against legacy technology
* You have experience using excel, google analytics, SQL, Oracle, PowerBI or a range of other tools to distill the answers to key questions and visualise them
* You have experience of mapping business process flows, use case diagrams, user journeys, product canvas using tools such as Aha,ProdPad, Hotjar, Decibel insight, Balsamiq


Having experience in life sciences, is preferred, but not essential for the right candidate
