Business Controller
Job purpose
The Business Controller, Nordic will oversee the business and financial operations across the countries
of the newly created Nordic cluster, which includes Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway and Iceland.
He / she will perform financial analysis & reporting, forecasting & budgeting, monthly closing
procedures and processes and will implement the overall business plans across the area of
responsibility. The Business Controller, Nordic will act as a key business partner and will share
responsibility for the cluster´s economic and financial performance. Additionally, he / she will maintain
open dialogue with the global business in order to create alignment and sharing best-practices. The
Business Controller Nordic will be based in the Copenhagen office.
Duties and responsibilities
Budgeting and Forecasting
- In collaboration with the Finance manager nordics and the Retail Managers, use financial
analysis to prepare the budget and forecasts
- Oversee the execution of the cluster´s budget against standard procedures and guidelines
- Develop own set of assumption for local business
- Participate in forecast review meetings
- Input figures into planning
Perform month-end close process
- Participation in the cluster´s end-of-the-month procedures (together with Accounting) and
preparation of commenting and reporting
- Assess and monitor end-of-month P&L and prepare accruals, bonuses, rent management
and any other necessary financial adjustments
Report business findings
- Complete regular business reviews and delivering accurate business reports and updates
- Use and interpret global and local financial data to discuss important aspects and support
stakeholders and colleagues, such as the Country managers and Area Managers, etc., with
financial decision making 2 / 2
- Prepare, consult and support the Finance manager Nordic in preparation of the monthly
business review with the global business
- Share local knowledge, insights and best-practices with Central Controlling team
Advise and business partnering
- Work in partnership with the other business functions to develop business and financial
recommendations, provide budget feedback and assist in financial decisions while
supporting their daily activities (campaign follow-up, ad-hoc requests, etc.)
Perform financial analyses
- Complete regular strategic business analyses (e.g. GM or sales analysis) that go beyond
standard reporting to analyze sales and assess the overall business performance against
benchmarking data
- Anticipate financial risks and gaps, identify business opportunities and potential for cost
savings and efficiency gains
Business controller core skills
- Showing extensive finance or accounting experience for a retail business
- Being proficient in Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Financial modeling experience
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking to interrogate and analyze information to drive
financial and business decision
- Fluent in English verbally and written
- Effective communication skills to explain patterns, advice the business and summarize
complex financial arguments in a simple way
