The Business Development Manager will build market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships. Duties and Responsibilities
· Manage key accounts on existing markets.
· Locate and propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; identifying and exploring opportunities.
· Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
· Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
· Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new venture with company strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners' needs and goals.
· Impact the profitability of the business through ensuring strategic and tactical management decisions and new business developments.
· Ensure efficient and effective marketing, advertising and promotional planning.
Qualifications and Skills
· Previous experience as a tenured Business Development Manager, General Manager, or CEO, with proven track record.
· Fundamental understanding of financial tools such as budgets, cashflow, P&L and balance sheet.
· Experience from working and traveling in challenging environments.
· Documented experience from doing business in sub-Saharan Africa.
· Good technical understanding of solar power and water purification technologies.
· Experience in launching new products and entering new markets.
· Entrepreneurial, nimble and fast moving. Driven and goal oriented.
· Able to build deep and strong customer relationships.
· Cross-functional knowledge of issues, government policies and programs related to water and solar energy.
· Ability to work collaboratively.
· Experienced in cross-cultural communication.
· Master’s degree in a relevant field.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Fluency in English and Ganda. Knowledge of other languages such as Kiswahili, French, and Swedish is an advantage.
