What we do
At Procurement, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services – at the right cost, quality, and technology – is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo. Highly sophisticated software will be key to our ambition to lead innovation for the future of Autonomous Drive / Shared Mobility / Electrification / New Ways to Consumers. Volvo Cars have taken ownership with inhouse development and procuring Software packages from traditional Tier 2 suppliers, separately from hardware suppliers.
You are confident in advising stakeholders on commercial issues and providing support and guidance at all stages of the procurement cycle with collaboration as a guiding star towards common goals. As a persona, you need to dare to question the status quo or specific paths with stakeholders, suppliers, and people; and work proactively to build a better understanding and work for common solutions.
You will work in a dedicated Software team, focusing solely on licensing software for all product streams. Highly focused areas are the software licenses and services within Autonomous Drive, Connectivity, Electrification and Shared Mobility. The team is part of the Global Procurement team for Software & Electronics located in Gothenburg, Sweden, but you will be working in an international environment with colleagues in both US and China as well. There will be some need for global business travels.
Do you fit the profile?
Together with the rest of the Software team, you will support the development of this new procurement category at Volvo Cars, all in very close cooperation with colleagues in the areas of Product Development, Legal and Consumer Experience, and Digital and Product Strategy. The missions include developing specific terms & conditions and contracts to license software, scan the global market for new potential suppliers, evaluate & rate the suppliers, perform sourcing, contract management, business development and work out future strategies – all to enable the ambition of making Volvo Cars a true Software company.
To perform these missions, you will do both administrative, analytic, and strategic/tactical actions on a daily basis. We strive to follow the Agile way of working guided by the SAFe framework. You are a prestigeless team player with excellent networking abilities and strive for cross-functional cooperation. With your passion for identifying, enabling, and creating new solutions you also see new business opportunities in this field. You are known to always take ownership of your deliveries and have a strong strategic mindset.
You possess a strong business acumen with an understanding of the many dimensions of business issues while having the ability to make sense out of complexity, including the legal and contractual aspects. You enjoy negotiating and challenging suppliers, always with great respect and a focus on achieving win-win agreements. Having experience from an Agile way of working is very beneficial.
