Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg and Bangalore and we have close cooperation with the sites Greensboro and Lyon. We understand the final customer needs and apply our knowledge to develop technical concepts and solutions that satisfy customer and business needs. The work is based on innovation, shared technology, common architecture and brand uniqueness.


We are looking for experienced, self-driven Cab Climate System Performance Engineers to strengthen our team, Cab Climate GOT Feature and End User Function. Our team is responsible for the design and development of Feature and end user function and tuning of the parameters in the Climate system as well as strategies and advanced engineering. We are responsible for the Cab Climate feature for the Volvo brand and we have a global responsibility for Cab Climate functionality covering all sites and truck brands within the Volvo Group.
Description for Cab Climate System Performance Engineer, SPE
As a Cab Climate System Performance Engineer you are the Integrator and the driver who develops and keeps together the Climate scope in a product update and secures that the Cab Climate feature and end user functions Cab Climate comfort, seat comfort, defrosting of windows and to achieve good cab air quality, will be delivered to the product.


You understand our customers, their needs in daily work connected to Cab Climate Comfort. You can break down the customers’ needs and expectations to measurable requirements, plan and perform the feature and functional verification and validation of the Climate system. You lead and you are be part of testing and tuning activities for parameter settings for climate control regulator. Testing is done in rigs, truck on road or in wind tunnel or climate chamber. You have the ability to analyze the results and take required actions.


Drive the requirements needed for wanted feature level and end user functionality, safety, quality, functional variation, brand distinction and platform harmonization. You have the ability to handle complex balancing of contradictory engineering and customer requirements. Lead the coordination of design and integration activities for the EUF, cross modules, domains and engineering departments in all product life cycle phases.


Requirements:
Academic degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Knowledge of Automotive Climate system
Knowledge of Climate Feature(Attribute/performance) and End user function requirements
Experience of functional verification
Understanding to plan, perform and analyze results from rig or vehicle testing
Good technical writing and presentation skills
Communication skills and team worker but also on your own without work management
English proficiency
C or CE- Truck driving license is a merit

In a small product update the system performance engineer drives and performs the work, and in big product update several persons have different parts of the responsibility depending on individual skills and experience and the outcome of the PI planning as we work agile with planning in ten weeks cadence.
You are engaged and interested in participating with your climate knowledge into ongoing development work with verification and validation methods.
In order to be successful in this position we think that you have an open and positive attitude. The job requires that you create an extensive network on a local and global basis and your ability to understand and accept cultural differences is seen as an asset.
