The Machine Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a CAD/PDM Support Engineer.
Description of directorate/division
Integration & Design Support division provides the skills, tools and the resources for the design engineering work at ESS and its collaboration. The division works cross functional through the organization and is a service to the different projects.
Integration & Design Support division consists of both Product Data Management (PDM), CAD Management and support personnel as well as the designers needed for the process of designing, building and maintaining the ESS site and machine.
Description of main responsibilities
As a Support engineer it is your main task to provide Design engineers, mechanical designers and CAD designers and others using the ESS CAD and PDM tools with user support and to help find solutions to issues related to the tools used. You will also give training sessions to new users and update existing users about new methods or functionalities. You will be needed to manage exchange of design updates to and from external suppliers and collaborators.
The position will involve:
• User support
• Methods development
• User training
• Cad files communication with external collaborators/suppliers
• Logging and communicating errors/requests for updates to software suppliers
We believe that to enjoy and perform in this position at ESS you have a Bachelor of Science or equivalent in engineering with documented CAD/PDM contents. At ESS we primarily use Enovia & Catia V6, experience in these versions of the software is highly advantageous. We also believe that you have 2-4 years experience and training in Catia V6/V5 and at least one PDM/PLM software tool such as Enovia, Matrix one, Team Center or Smart Team. If you have knowledge of and experience in more than one CAD/PDM tools and experience in writing and testing methods we see that as advantage.
If you have a minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design/fabricated parts or plant design is preferred for the ability to understand the design process and its requirements on the software tools.
Your English skills are excellent both verbal and written. The position is permanent with six months initial probationary period. Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.
