Arbetsbeskrivning
Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
What’s in it for you?
Safety is a core value of everything we do at Volvo Cars and with a human-centric innovation approach this has taken us to a leading position. As an Active Safety Analysis Engineer at Volvo Cars Safety Centre, you will take part in the development of the next generation of safety leading Volvo Cars. You will be a Team Member in an agile team with innovative safety knowledge and analytical ability that over time will create world-leading safety.
What you will do?
Your task is mainly to do active safety simulations (MBSE/Simulink based simulations) and perform analyses based on these results to create knowledge needed to develop safer cars.Pre-crash data from our accident data base is used. It is essential to get a detailed understanding of the pre-crash phase because it is there the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and AD (Automated Driving) systems act to avoid crashes. Knowledge driven from your analysis will be used in the development of next generation ADAS and AD systems. The use of real crash and pre-crash data is essential to increase precision in the development, to decrease lead time in projects and to give input to next generation safety systems. To do a complete analysis you might need to compliment the simulations with physical full-scale tests at a test track. You will be part of an agile team and will work closely with your Team Members, Scrum Master, Product Owner and the System Team Members at the different ARTs.
Daily tasks and responsibilities:
To integrate Simulink models into our simulation environment of the vehicle, Active Safety functions and the driver’s behaviour so that they can be applied in simulations for evaluation, verification and tuning of active safety systems.
* Perform experimental and virtual simulations of real-world scenarios with respect to crash avoidance and crash mitigation performance and analyse the results.
* Work with method and model development and the virtual simulations within our research projects.
* Participate in method development and safety requirement setting. Regular contact with engineers from the product development departments
Do you fit the profile?
The department work is built on empowered agile teams. As an Agile Safety Analysis Team Member, your job is to perform analysis, develop safety requirements, design guidelines, create and evaluate the technical solutions.
* You will collaborate with all Safety Attribute Teams and Solutions ARTs to maximize the department’s ability to support the solution flow. You persist in the face of challenges and drive results to secure delivery.
* You have high integrity and easily gain the trust and confidence of others.
You take consistent action to develop new skills, and you are good at applying new knowledge and find ways to apply strengths to new issues.
Who are you?
You have a MSc degree in Signal and systems, Control & Mechatronics, Applied Mechanics, Automotive Engineering or equivalent relevant experience. You are curious by nature and you are passionate about analytical work. You are inclusive, communicative, team and customer focused. You have a genuine passion for safety and you are action oriented, you will decisively take action in fast-changing and unpredictable situations. You are actively learning through experimentation when tackling new problems and challenges, using both successes and failures as base when seeking new approaches to address issues.
Experience:
* MBSE/CAE-tools such as CarMaker, VIRES VTD, PreScan, CarSim or Simulink.
* Vehicle Dynamics, Multibody Dynamics,Statistical analysis, optimization,Control algorithm development, mechatronics, Driver’s Licence, Be fluent in English (written and spoken)
Meritorious:
• Experience from safety related work
• Physical testing of ADAS and analysis preferably within Automotive Safety
• Skills in scripting languages, such as Python, Matlab or other
