What’s in it for you?
Green Propulsion and Thermal management are increasingly important areas for Volvo Cars to become leading in Electrification. ART Thermal management have a key role in energy efficient propulsion by optimizing control towards customer functions and balancing attributes. The systems are getting more advanced and complex including different temperature levels, cooling down, heating up, transfer/transport and store heat for electric motors, battery, control modules etc. All this needs to be designed with sustainability in focus.
ART Thermal management is a part of the department Battery and Thermal within unit Vehicle propulsion. The ART is divided into two groups, TM System Development and TM Hardware, working closely together. Our group, TM System Development, have complete ownership of Thermal management from first architectural sketch to software in vehicles. We are 30 persons with high ambitions, different ages, background and experience. We are characterized as an open and friendly group where everyone shares their knowledge with each other.
What you’ll do
As CAE analysis engineer in Thermal management, you will work in projects in cooperation with the System responsible, other CAE engineers within group and other departments. The main activities of a CAE engineer in our team are:
* Evaluation of the performance of different Thermal Management systems from component to complete system level, and also its impact in the whole vehicle architecture.
* Optimization of the Thermal Management systems with respect to different attributes, such as energy consumption, NVH, weight, cost…
* Support of the testing team by providing simulation results before they perform the tests, so they can cross-check the results of the test and trace possible errors.
* Support the other members of the team in method development tasks, with the aim of improving the CAE capabilities and/or the workflow within the team.
* Analyse, draw conclusions and present results of simulations to different stakeholders.

Do you fit the profile?
You are eager to join a CAE team that works as such, which means that you are a team player who believes that work teamwork is the key for success. As a person you are structured, self-driven, supportive and contribute with personal energy. The ideal candidate should have: 
* University degree M. Sc. Grade within mechanical engineering, applied physics, applied mathematics or similar education, with 0-3 years working experience within the relevant field.
* Deep knowledge in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
* Knowledge on 1D and/or 3D simulations.
* Curios, structured, good analytical skills and technical interest.
* Experience with GT-ise, StarCCM+, MATLAB, Simulink, Python is meritorious.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken) is a must.
