At Volvo Cars we are facing important challenges in a competitive market. One such challenge is understanding the customer in the virtual world. At the Climate department we see 1D System modeling as an important leg to stand on in our search for a more efficient and higher quality engineering. The Climate System CAE team works with a multitude of thermal management systems such as Air Conditioning, Battery cooling, Air distribution and Engine cooling systems. We work in a highly integrated environment and together we develop virtual vehicle models that allow us to test our systems fully before they are built.

As CAE Engineer you will maintain and assist with competence in the fields of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, and assist in the decision making process of development. We use CAE from the concept phase all the way to the verification phase and the tasks are varied and complex. Being in close contact with many roles and competences, you will be able to choose which area to develop into as you grow. You will have a contact network within R&D CAE and your analyses will be part of a complete vehicle analyses.

Main responsibilities

* To plan, execute and analyse results of CAE calculations and report to line manager, project team and PSS organisation
* Make recommendations to product development based on CAE results and experience
* Develop and maintain system models and take part in method development
* Attend development meetings to collect critical needs for analysis
* Collect data, perform analyses and recommend design improvements
* Plan and develop the models needed to match the upcoming projects
* Participate in method development
* Cooperate with interfacing systems

Required qualifications

* M.Sc. within physics or similar, with experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, numerical system modeling
* Experience of CAE modeling and analysing work
* Experience of Thermal 1D modelling is meritourious

* Curious and interested to learn more about the complete climate system
