Then the role as Solidity CAE Engineer is the place for you to prosper. We are looking for a CAE Engineer for the Operational Sound Quality (OSQ) & Solidity team at the Personal Driving Experience Centre at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The Personal Driving Experience Centre within Research & Development supports the strategic direction of “Freedom to move in a Personal, Sustainable & Safe way”. The center is organized in attributes such as vehicle dynamics, brake attributes, performance & drivability, road noise, wind noise, solidity, operational sound quality, audio & ANC performance, interactive sound design and trimmed body acoustics & dynamics. In close collaboration with design and the development teams we take responsibility for a personal experience for our end users.
The team OSQ & Solidity is responsible for the sound quality from all sensors, actuators, small fans etc., and for the squeaks, rattle, and solid feeling analysis. The team is divided into three scrum teams, and we are now looking to strengthen the team whose focus is the attribute solidity (Buzz, Squeak and Rattle). Together the team ensure that we provide a high acoustic quality experience and solid feeling of auxiliary systems in the vehicle together with the product development teams. Here you will get the chance to be involved in all project phases, from Advanced Engineering to vehicle production start, and with field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve our attributes in our cars. We can offer state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and the opportunity to build an extensive network with other internal design areas, suppliers, and our development centre in Shanghai.
What you’ll do
You will be a part of a scrum team to strengthen the deliverables and development of the next generation of systems in the vehicles in terms of squeak, rattle and solid feeling. Your main responsibility will be to perform both static and dynamic simulations and analysis of different systems in-vehicle including the body, exterior and interior to avoid squeak and rattle and give the customer a solid feeling of the car. You will propose improvements and drive necessary change together with involved design areas.
You will be participating in car program teams where you support in the requirement setting at systems level, communicate analysis results and guide the design work from a solidity perspective. You will participate in the development of improved or new methods and measurement capability as well as in implementations of new software / hardware.
You and your skills
We believe you have an M.Sc degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of two years’ experience from squeak, rattle and solid feeling analyses, FE-simulations and automotive industry. You have good knowledge of CAE tools like NASTRAN, ABAQUS, ANSA and META. Matlab and Phyton experience is meritorious. Experience of working in agile teams will be an advantage. Knowledge of acoustics in CAE related to the sound/vibration/rattle induced by audio speakers is meritorious.
On a personal level, you are an outspoken and brave person, known for your great analytical capability. You are customer focused, result oriented and possess good interpersonal and communication skills. You are a team-player with a sense of accountability, whilst also comfortable working independently.
