CAE engineer - Cooling System, Powertrain Installation

The group Engine Mounted Cooling System is a part of the section Exhaust & Cooling system. The operation of Cooling System is divided into two groups in close cooperation, Chassis- and Engine mounted cooling system. in order to provide complete cooling systems to all engine and car projects at Volvo Car Corporation. The cooling system is a fundamental and a focused area in respect to thermal management and C02 reduction. We work in close cooperation with our suppliers and different car and engine projects. We deliver complete system to new car projects and to current running production and have the total responsibility for the complete cooling system in the car.
As CAE engineer you will work closely with other CAE engineers, Designers, Test engineer, Function owners and System responsible. You will have a leading role and be responsible for the calculation of the cooling system, with focus on the engine mounted cooling system. Planning of incoming work, CAE projects, thesis work, and documentation is also a part of the role. You will be working with strategies and concepts design when it comes to development of systems and component dimensioning and selection of way forward. Furthermore, you will review old requirements and designs in order to develop completely new and yet unknown ways to enhance performance and maintain correct engine temperature.
Main responsibilities
* Secure that 1-D CFD flow calculation and heat rejection are planned, performed and documented
* Follow-up and analysis of test, correlation between test and calculation
* Engine as well as component CFD simulating
* Support to project, Thermal management and quality tasks
* Development of methods, new areas to be covered
* Mentor of graduate or thesis workers
* Report result from completed calculation activities
* Create and maintain necessary method development
* Coordinate and prioritise all calculation activities for the separate components as well as the whole system
Required qualifications
* M.Sc. grade within mechanics, or a similar education or equivalent experience
* Experience from calculating and verification
* Experience of development of systems and component
* Experience of project work
* Good skills in Gt-suite, Star CCM+, Matlab, Simulink, ANSA
* Good at making reports and presentations
* Good knowledge in English, written and spoken
* Driving licens B
