Arbetsbeskrivning

CAE Engineer Model in the Loop testing, Active Safety

At Research and Development you will be a key contributor to the next generation outstanding luxury cars from Volvo. Together with other engineers from around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. Are you interested in being part of an experienced team in the development of our next generations of Driver Assistance, Active Safety and Autonomous Driving systems? Do you share our passion for people, the environment and our urge to create a superior driving experience? Then Research and Development is the place for you to prosper.

At Volvo Car Group, we are striving to be world leading in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD), offering customers most comprehensive, convenient and safe ADAS functions as well as being the first to offer truly autonomous driving function. Before these functions can be released in customer vehicles, it is required to rigorously verify the performance and safety, that is, make sure that these work as designed in changing and unpredictable traffic situations, and do not endanger the driver or surrounding road users. As the number and complexity of ADAS/AD functions increase and new functions need to be introduced more and more often, traditional testing in prototype vehicles becomes prohibitively long and expensive. Instead, virtual testing in Hardware in Loop (HIL) rigs and Model in Loop (MIL) environments is used to test the systems faster, more safely and efficiently. Driver Assistance and Active Safety CAE group supports the Active Safety department at Volvo Car Group by developing and maintaining Model In the Loop (MIL) simulation environment for ADAS and AD function testing, and supporting the MIL testing process. We develop the environment and integrate the function software in it, as well as models for the rest of the vehicle systems such as sensors, brakes, steering, driver, chassis, surrounding environment etc. We validate the environment and further develop it in order to support new functions and test cases. When the environment is prepared for testing a specific function, we assist the function testing teams in setting up test cases, and running the simulation and analyses. We collaborate closely with function owners, development and verification engineers.

As a CAE Engineer MIL testing, you will be a member of the Active Safety MIL team and participate in a broad range of activities: development and validation of the environment, development and integration of models, setting up test cases and test automation, and supporting test activities. You will be collaborating within and outside the team to get the expert knowledge about MIL methods, but even about ADAS and AD functions.
