Arbetsbeskrivning
Who we are
Volvo Cars and Geely Auto are combining their powertrain operations into a standalone business focused on next-generation hybrid systems and internal combustion engines.
To power the sustainable mobility of the future, a variety of energy sources will be needed. We plan to develop advanced, efficient powertrains for Volvo Cars, Geely Auto, Proton, Lotus, LEVC and Lynk & Co, as well as other OEMs. Our high-performance solutions are already trusted all over the world. Today we power hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the globe. With facilities in China and Sweden, we expect to employ more than 10,000 employees across Manufacturing, R&D, Engineering, IT and other support functions.
What´s in it for you?
The team Engine CAE Solids, at the Research and Development Department, is responsible for advanced technical calculations within the area of Structural analysis, Power train dynamics and different types of mechanical analysis on sub systems. Important attributes are NVH and durability.
Analyses are performed on different system levels such as complete powertrain, complete engine and engine components with the overall purpose of developing attributes, dimensioning components and virtually verify different technical solutions.
In this position you will perform calculations-based analysis concerning vibrations, noise and durability of the complete hybrid powertrain structure.
The analyses are carried out using the Finite Element Method (FEM), Multi Body Dynamic analysis and acoustic analysis.
A key activity is simulation and analysis of the interaction between moving parts and the stationary structure. For that purpose, we use a 3-dimensional Multi Body Dynamic tool, AVL/EXCITE and the analysis plays a very important role as base for further Noise (NVH) and durability assessment.
When it comes to noise and vibrations (NVH) you will analyse both structure borne vibrations as well as airborne noise.
What you´ll do
The work scope covers the complete process including model creation, performing calculations, analysing results, issue recommendations, verbally present findings and issue written reports.
You will take active part in development projects as well as method development.
As the work area is both advanced and is central for the overall development you will have the opportunity to develop both deep analysis skills as well as overall knowledge of the powertrain system. Furthermore, you will interact with other CAE Engineers, test engineers, design engineers and the project organisation.
You and your skills
We believe you have M. Sc in Mechanical Engineering with focus on Applied Mechanics or equivalent. You have knowledge and experience of structure analysis using a FE-tool such as NASTRAN or ABAQUS and you have good skills using ANSA for model creation. Experience of analysis of structural dynamics is highly valued. In addition:
* Knowledge of NVH (noise and vibration) analysis
* Experience of using the multi body dynamic tool AVL/EXCITE is an advantage
* Knowledge and experience of structural analysis on powertrains is meritorious
* Fluent in English, spoken and written
We think you are analytical and have a genuine interest of advanced technical calculations and highly developed methods. The work will be carried out both independently and in teams. We believe you are a team player. As the role will implicate a broad span of contacts you should have a strong ability to communicate and to convey results in a structured and understandable way.
