Our Challenge
Volvo Cars and the rest of the automotive industry are facing a big and exciting challenge regarding the focus shift from conventional vehicles and private owning, to electrification, digitalization, automation and mobility-as-a-service. Volvo Cars have decided to be one of the leaders within Energy Efficiency. To approach this, we need to develop our methods, IT solutions and virtual models. One key application in our process is our in-house complete vehicle 1D simulation tool, VSim.

VSim is a MATLAB/Simulink-based application for energy flows in the complete vehicle, that is fully in-house developed. The scrum team developing VSim has the responsibility for the architecture, code base, interfaces and model integration. The team collaborates closely with other virtual environments and model developing groups all around Volvo. Do you want to be a part of building up this?

In order to meet the future, we are now looking for a 1D CAE Engineer or Software developer for our Vehicle Energy Efficiency team. Are you used to work with simulation and virtual development and determined to drive energy efficiency in our new cars? Then this is the place for you to prosper! You will belong to the department Sustainability Centre and be part of a highly focused development team for our simulation platform Vsim, contributing to both strategic and operational questions concerning one of Volvo’s simulation platforms.
Our purpose is to build high confidence, user-friendly interfaces and make the VSim platform useful for as many users as possible.  This is the first priority for 1D simulation for e.g. supporting our strategical teams with the development of methods to optimize vehicle energy efficiency and power. 

What You’ll Do 
You will make important contributions to our VSim platform and to the agile team. Your role will be to conduct among other things; object-oriented programming, model development, verification and validation of models, designing graphical Interfaces, and analysis and implementation of control algorithms for new technology.  Maybe most important, you will be one of the drivers for a Sustainable future for Volvo Cars. You and Your Skills
We see that you have at least a Master of Science in Computer Science, Engineering Physics or similar. You are proficient in programming using Python, Java, C++. You have at least 3 years of skill in MATLAB and Simulink, and used to work in 1D simulation environment. You also have knowledge of SQL databases and Automotive systems.

You are highly motivated, creative and curious, with a strong analytical, scientific and strategic mindset. You are able to take initiatives on your own, you see the overall picture and logical patterns, but are also able to go into a detailed analysis of things.
If you have prior working experience with data science and data analysis it is considered beneficial as well as basic knowledge in the development of simulation environments or test methods.
