Calculation Engineer, Strength & Durability

Role Description
As Calculation (CAE) Engineer you will perform various calculations and simulations on component and system level, balancing and optimizing vehicle driveline systems regarding NVH (noise, vibration and harshness), durability and efficiency. You will be working with structures, rotating parts strength and durability analyses, optimization analyses, and fatigue and modal analyses. You will be part of the Virtual Analysis & Gear Design team working closely with other disciplines within the Product Engineering office.
- Benchmark and perform competitive component and system FE analysis.
- Systematically separate and balance design parameters regarding durability, NVH and efficiency, with the main focus on durability and efficiency.
- Establish, execute, follow up and report against the CAE plan for CAE activities.
- Proactively drive and train for CAE supported CAD.
- Continually carry back testing and validation results, and drive for efficient and good correlation between virtual and test results.
- Participate in customer meetings, write detailed technical reports and create/deliver technical presentations.
- Assist production facilities with troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
- Conduct cause analysis experiments to review component application and recommend technical solutions.

Qualifications / Experience / Skills
- Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
- Minimum 3 years experience as CAE engineer.
- Preferably working experience within the automotive industry.
- Knowledge in vehicle dynamics desired.
- Thorough knowledge of geared system products (gears and bearings).
- Competence using various FEM and design-oriented software, such as MSC Nastran, MARC, HyperMesh, SimLab, OptiStruct, FEMFAT, nCode or RomaxDesigner.
- Drive, flexibility and down-to-earth attitude with strong planning, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
