About the position
Kongsberg Automotive is seeking a Category Buyer within our office in Mölndal, Göteborg. This role will be instrumental in achieving significant cost reductions in line with budget targets, while improving product quality and supplier service levels. As a Category buyer for Rubber parts in Kongsberg Automotive (KA) you are strategically and regionally responsible for your category.
Responsibilities
• Understand and support the development of Category Strategies for assigned (sub-)category within the European region
• Review preferred suppliers and ensure that suppliers from low-cost regions are identified where possible. Review gaps in the criteria for preferred suppliers
• Provide superior Supplier relationship management
• Prepare and submit RFQs related to new projects and current business benchmarks
• Support supplier negotiations and select suppliers in accordance with defined process and strategy
• Monitor adherence to commercial agreements, performance, and capacity of suppliers
• Manage tooling cost improvements, orders, and registration processes
• Review sourcing strategies for the assigned categories
• Ensure contractual coverage with our EU supplier
• Perform Purchase Price Variance (PPV) / Non PPV reporting for area of responsibility
• Check blocked invoices, investigate reasons, and drive resolution with suppliers and internal stakeholders (finance, logistics and buyers)
• Escalation management support – logistics shortages, quality issue, etc.
• Updating ERP system with changes (monthly, quarterly price, ½ year or annually)
• Manage the Supplier Feasibility Evaluation
• Ensure Supplier data is maintained in ERP system and Vendor Portal.
• Creating SAP tooling orders and blanket piece price purchase orders according to supplier selections
• Support the data consolidation for management approval meetings – SBA, PIR, K-Brief, etc.
• Future growth with potential to expand to Lead Category Buyer Position within the Category Team – desire for growth and development.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Business Management
• Successful, multi-year (3+ years) track record in Purchasing
• Good SAP and ERP systems knowledge
• Very good Microsoft Office Package knowledge (mainly Excel, PPT)
• Strong negotiation skills
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills
• Production technology understanding, preferably in automotive
• Passion for reducing cost
• Strong written and oral communication skills; additional languages are a plus
