About the Position
Kongsberg Automotive is seeking an experienced Category Buyer within our MET Category Team. This role will be instrumental in achieving significant cost reductions in line with budget targets, while improving product quality and supplier service levels. The category supported will be castings of various metal materials with multiple manufacturing processes and technologies – HP/DC Al & Zn, Gravity DC Al / Steel & Iron, MIM & Sintered.
Responsibilities
Map future needs and leverage company spend to maximize benefits
Develop and propose a strategy for assigned category and suppliers
Establish a base of preferred suppliers, and ensure that suppliers from low-cost regions are identified where possible
Provide superior Supplier relationship management
Prepare and submit RFQs (based on input from Project Buyers related to New Product Introduction Projects)
Lead supplier negotiations and select suppliers in accordance with defined process and strategy
Monitor adherence to commercial agreements, performance and capacity of suppliers
Manage tooling cost improvements, orders and registration processes
Implement sourcing strategies for the assigned categories
Establish good contracting and acceptance practices
Perform Purchase Price Variance reporting for area of responsibility
Updating ERP system with monthly / quarterly price changes
Manage the Supplier Feasibility Evaluation
Ensure Supplier data is maintained in ERP system and Vendor Portal
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering and/or Business Management
Successful, multi-year (5+ years) track record in Purchasing
Experience, knowledge and understanding within various casting & machining processes
Production technology understanding, preferably in automotive
Strong negotiation skills
Good problem-solving and analytical skills
Passion for reducing cost
Fluent in English is a requirement, additional language is an advantage.
