Category Manager

ValueOne is recruiting a highly skilled and motivated Category Manager for our customer in the south of Sweden. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strategic mindset and a passion for procurement to lead and manage sourcing activities and build strong stakeholder relationships.

The role

As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for developing and deploying a category strategy to ensure the best business development by driving cost cutting, risk mitigation and improvement initiatives within specified categories. The role involves responsibility for strategic sourcing and purchasing activities as well as stakeholder management within the specific category.

Main tasks:

Drive cost reduction initiatives while ensuring the best total cost of ownership.
Monitor the external market and supplier capabilities.
Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to support the category's activities and deliverables.
Ensure compliance with purchasing and sourcing e-tools, templates, and processes and proactively manage supplier relationships, including classification and capacity assessments.
Report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including cost reduction achievements,
Contribute to the company´s sustainability agenda by working with suppliers on CO2 reduction initiatives and other sustainability efforts.
Monitor and enforce supplier compliance with the company´s CSR and sustainability requirements and act as an escalation point for category-related issues.

Experience and competence

To be considered for this role, you should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a similar role will also be considered. The ideal candidate should have proven experience as a Strategic Purchaser, Category Manager or in a similar role. You should have demonstrated the ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally, and have experience managing category stakeholders across various locations. Furthermore, we are seeking someone skilled in negotiations who can challenge requirements constructively to create added value for the organization. Experience in procurement or sourcing within the industrial sector is an advantage. Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is required for this role.

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about tackling challenges and committed to continuous improvement. You must be able to handle pressure while taking calculated risks and exhibiting strong analytical skills. The ability to view complex situations from a holistic perspective and the capacity to analyze issues, develop solutions and clearly communicate recommendations is essential.
